Mati City, Davao Oriental – The Davao Oriental International Technology College, Inc. successfully conducted its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Training 2026 for the 1st Batch of First-Year students on May 8, 2026 at the Barangay Central Gymnasium.

Conducted under the institution’s National Service Training Program (NSTP), the activity aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills in disaster preparedness, emergency response, safety awareness, and crisis management. The training emphasized the importance of discipline, preparedness, leadership, and community cooperation during emergencies and natural calamities.

The event served as a meaningful reminder that education extends beyond academic instruction. Through initiatives like the DRRM Training, DOIT College continues to strengthen its commitment to producing socially responsible, resilient, and community-oriented future professionals capable of responding effectively during times of crisis and uncertainty.

Participants actively engaged in lectures, drills, and hands-on demonstrations that enhanced their understanding of disaster response procedures and life-saving techniques. The training also highlighted the value of unity, compassion, presence of mind, and teamwork in protecting lives and helping communities become more disaster-resilient.

DOIT College expressed its sincere gratitude to the invited resource speakers and facilitators who contributed to the success of the activity, including Mr. Leoj Ray P. Mara of the CDRRMO and personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection: SFO2 Kristoffer B. Ang, FO2 John Kean P. Bandigan, FO1 Christian Louie D. Raga, FO1 Jerry Robin L. Vallar, FO1 Joly Mae M. Tejano, and FO1 Jade A. Pajuyo. Appreciation was also extended to the NSTP Coordinator, partner agencies, faculty members, and students whose participation made the training impactful and successful.
